Buyer question / OEM development

Can a baby clothing factory produce from a tech pack?

A tech pack gives the factory a controlled starting point, but it still needs a production-readiness review before pattern development, sampling and bulk manufacturing.

Short answer

Yes. JC Apparel can manufacture custom baby and kids clothing from a buyer’s tech pack. We review the drawings, measurements, fabric, construction, artwork, trims, labels and packaging, then clarify missing or conflicting details before creating the sample and approved bulk standard.

What the factory needs to see

A useful tech pack connects the design to measurable production instructions.

The document does not need to look elaborate. It needs to show which decisions are approved, which are still open and how the sample will be evaluated. The clearer the specification, the easier it is to compare quotations and reduce avoidable sample revisions.

OEM workflow

From buyer specification to an approved bulk standard.

01 / CHECK

Readiness review

Flag missing measurements, material questions, conflicting notes and market requirements.

02 / DEVELOP

Pattern and sample

Translate the approved instructions into a pattern, materials and a physical development sample.

03 / REVISE

Buyer feedback

Record comments, update the specification and confirm any change to fit, material or construction.

04 / FREEZE

Production standard

Approve the final sample and specification before bulk material planning and manufacturing.

If the tech pack is incomplete

Missing information can be developed, but it must become an approved decision.

A buyer can still begin with a sketch, reference garment, mood board or partial specification. That moves the project toward ODM support: JC Apparel helps propose materials, construction and measurements, while the buyer remains responsible for approving the final product direction.

Best practice for revision control

Use one current version number and date. Consolidate comments into the tech pack or an attached change log, and mark every revised measurement, artwork file, label or packaging instruction clearly.

  • 1Label each style and color with a unique reference so files do not become mixed.
  • 2Separate required specifications from preferred directions and factory suggestions.
  • 3Identify the target market early so labeling, testing and product information can be planned.
  • 4Approve changes in writing before they become part of the bulk production standard.

Tech pack questions

What buyers often ask before uploading files.

Which file formats can I send through the inquiry form?

The current form accepts PDF, JPG, PNG, XLSX and ZIP files. A ZIP archive can group the current tech pack, reference images and supporting artwork. Keep confidential or unrelated personal information out of the files.

Can you quote from a tech pack before making a sample?

We can review the stated specification and prepare a project-specific quotation, but any missing material, construction, quantity, testing or packaging decision may need to be confirmed or stated as an assumption.

Can you work from a physical reference sample?

Yes, a reference garment can help explain fit, construction and hand feel. The buyer should identify which details should be copied, changed or avoided and confirm that the submitted design and branding may be used.

How are uploaded tech packs handled?

Website inquiry files are stored as private inquiry records rather than public media. Access is limited to authorized staff involved in reviewing or supporting the sourcing project. A separate NDA can be discussed when required.
